A pillow is one of those buys you can't really test from your couch. Here's how to narrow it down online so the one that arrives actually suits how you sleep.
1. Start with your sleep position
- Side sleepers usually need a higher, firmer pillow to fill the gap between ear and shoulder.
- Back sleepers do well with medium loft that supports the curve of the neck.
- Stomach sleepers often prefer a thin, soft pillow, or none at all.
2. Check firmness and shape
Contoured pillows cradle the neck; classic loaf shapes are easier to scrunch. Product photos with a side view tell you more than any adjective.
3. Think about heat
Memory foam can trap warmth, which matters in a humid climate. Look for gel infusions, ventilated foam or a breathable cover, and pair it with cooling sheets.
4. Read the care label
Foam itself usually isn't washable, so a removable, machine-washable cover is a real plus.
5. Know the return window
Many sleep products have special return rules for hygiene reasons. Check before you buy.
Sleep cooler: our Miracle Made Cooling Cotton Sheets are a favorite for warm nights, and the heated neck massager helps unwind tight shoulders before bed.
